Amtrak’s northbound Coast Starlight swings around the bend at Elkhorn in the evening sun in 2006.
From this week’s excursion along the San Mateo County coast. Several boulders and rocks pop out of the beach at Gazos Creek, just south of Pigeon Point, California. Stonehenge in the sea!
Flashback to April of 2005. It’s Good Old Days in Pacific Grove. The first event of the morning was always the police officers inspection by the local Marine Corps detachment at the Presidio of Monterey. What did it take to get a passing grade? A spic and span bike and spotless uni. They graded you on everything. The police inspection is no longer held since the Good Old Days committee dropped the police motorcycle competition.
Hanging out with Rebekah at one of our favorite places nearby.
Another old slide from 2000. The Union Pacific “Santa Magarita Turn” takes a single centerbeam car of lumber down the Coast LIne. They have just passed San Ardo, and will have about another 45 minutes before they reach their destination of Paso Robles. I think all three engines should be enough on this day!
